Anshul Mehrotra "Mayhem: Our plastic pavement to cataclysm"
The earth needs oceans just like humans need blood; it is an essential part of our biosphere. Marine and aquatic lives play a major role in the smooth running of Earth’s ecosystem and by disposing of plastic irresponsibly we are damaging the ecosystem. Marine animals may mistake plastic bags or other poisonous plastics for food, resulting in starvation or suffocation.Or they may become trapped in plastic waste and unable to get free, grow within the same plastic waste. Bottom feeders, whose outer shell or skin is naturally designed to camouflage them against the seabed, now struggle as the unnatural plastic present on the seabed makes camouflage impossible. Plastic waste is the leading cause of reduced biodiversity.
