The Photography Show, co-located with The Video Show, will open its doors at Birmingham’s NEC later this month (16-19 March 2019). It’s a destination for anyone passionate about imagery; a photographer’s dream when it comes to sourcing kit and getting advice from some of the best in the business.
Whether you’re an established professional or you’re an amateur looking to build your skills (and perhaps invest in some tech for the coming year or so), there’s something for everyone at the show.
Here are a few highlights:
- Grab a slice of inspiration from the guest speakers on the Super Stage. This year our lineup includes Pete Souza (ex-official photographer for the White House, during Obama’s presidency), the legendary Martin Parr and fashion photography guru Lindsay Adler. Other speakers include Chris Burkard, Gordon Buchanan, Moose Peterson, and Annie Griffiths. You can find more information here.
- The latest photography kit from the industry’s leading manufacturers will be on show for you to take a look at. You can check out the exhibitor list here.
- Don’t miss take away tips from our Wedding & Portrait Stage, including how to get the best portraits using natural light, the art of lighting with Speedlights, curating memories as a documentary wedding photographer and working with horses to add elegance and poise to fine art portraiture.
- Learn a different approach to skin retouching, the importance of screen calibration and color for photo editing, and how to add mood and atmosphere to your stills through color grading. Make sure you visit our new Editing & Post-production Suite where you’ll discover how to revolutionize your photos with AI.
- This year, with video becoming so popular and vital to the professional photographer’s portfolio, we’ve launched The Video Show alongside the main event. Our seminar programme will include live demos, tips for improving your social channel engagement and editing (post-production) gems; all with video at the heart of their focus. Read more here.
- Follow our Women Who Photo campaign – those involved, including Angela Nicholson, Mandy Dhillon, Emma Wilson, and Emma Drabble will take to the Photo Live Stage on Saturday, 16 March to talk empowerment and success in the male-dominated industries of photography and film. A gallery of their work will be on display in the Food Village. More information can be found here.
- Last but not least, on Tuesday, 19 March at 14:00 in the Behind the Lens Theatre, the World Photography Organisation will discuss with a panel of photographers their experiences of building their careers alongside tips on how to extend your network and develop your portfolio. World Photography Organisation Press and Communications Director Jill Cotton will be asking Alys Tomlinson (2018 Sony World Photography Awards’ Photographer of the Year), Richard Ansett (shortlisted photographer in the 2019 Sony World Photography Awards), Tom Oldham (2018 Sony World Photography Awards’ winner) and Tracy Lund (2019 shortlisted photographer in the 2019 Sony World Photography Awards). Not to be missed!
