Getting very close to something, removing it from any context, even from it's own, can reveal otherwordly aspects of any given object. More importantly it removes preconceptions, leaving a blank slate to reimagine what you are looking at. By in this way abstracting the object being photographed, it is allowed to become something else entirely.
