About

We are delighted to reveal the full list of shortlisted and commended photographers for the 2018 Sony World Photography Awards. All winning, shortlisted and commended images will be exhibited as part of the 2018 Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition at Somerset House, London from the 20th April - 6th May. 

 

 

Photographers from across the world entered a whopping 319,561 images across all competitions, the most ever! The judges were particularly impressed with the high quality of entries, and the ability of the successful images to offer insight into the trends and contemporary concerns of photographers working today.

  • Discover each Wednesday, a selection of highlighted images from the list of photographers below. These will be featured in our Highlight Galleries, which can be found beneath each competition below, and via our blog, where you will be able to find out more about the images. 
     
  • The full selection of winning, shortlisted and commended images will be on display at the 2018 Exhibition from 20th April - 6th May,
    2018.

This year's Student Focus entrants were working in response to Parley for the Oceans Foundation. They were given the following brief: 

"Create a single image which highlights and raises awareness of an environmental topic of your choice. The topic can be something small and close to home or a wider issue, acknowledged on a global level."
