Winner and shortlist announced! October's Youth competition

Six months, six competitions, six chances! The Sony World Photography Awards Youth competition is created in such a way to give young photographers more opportunities to be the next Youth Photographer of the Year. Below are the winning and shortlisted entries from the October competition, where we asked photographers aged 12-19 years old to submit their best street images.

For October we wanted to see what young photographers turn their lens towards in urban spaces. From eye-catching graffiti to architectural details or snapshots that offer a glimpse into everyday life, images should be a fine example of framing, imagination and displaying an appreciation for the human condition.

Congratulations to all successful photographers below. The winner will also be featured in a dedicated email, to our youth audience, the World Photography Organisation social media channels and will also be in the running for the Youth Photographer of the Year title announced in 2021.

WINNER

Ram Kaushalyan, India, 18 years old

Congratulations to Ram for winning this month's competition with his image titled Delusions. He took the black & white image at a local fair in his city. Ram was also a monthly winner in the 2020 Youth competition for his striking image relating to travel. Well done Ram!

'I am so grateful to be selected as the October Youth competition winner. To be named a winner in the Sony World Photography Awards has given me confidence, exposure and encouragement to continue my passion as a career.'
