The Sony World Photography Awards returns to Somerset House this spring. Enriching our understanding of our planet, the 2020 exhibition showcases leading imagery of today that will expand both our appreciation and understanding of the photographic medium.
Spread across the East and West wing galleries in Somerset House, the exhibition consists of an astonishing 600 images, with around 300 printed works with the remaining works displayed on large digital screens.
The winning and shortlisted images were chosen for their power to communicate a visual narrative with excellent technical and creative skills. International in scope and subject matter, the collection celebrates the rich diversity of photography today.
Now in its 13th year, the Sony World Photography Awards supports photographers of all ages and abilities so they can be a part of the global voice for photography.
Highlights from the main exhibition are the winning and shortlisted series from the 2020 ZEISS Photography Award, exclusive images from recipients of the 2020 Professional and Student Grants, plus the winning photograph from Sony Alpha Female Award.
Accompanying the successful images from the Sony World Photography Awards is One Love, One Book: Steidl Book Culture. The Book as Multiple, a substantial display by publisher and photobook maker Gerhard Steidl, who is this year’s Outstanding Contribution to Photography recipient.
The Sony World Photography Awards 2020 exhibition is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 9pm and weekends 10am to 8pm
