2016 Sony World Photography Awards - Student Focus Winner
Sofia Jern is a photographer who is passionate about the rights of Indigenous Peoples. She is the 2016 Student Focus winner of the Sony World Photography Awards. Currently, she lives in Washington, DC, specializing on the intellectual property rights of the Maasai people in Kenya and Tanzania. Sofia Jern grew up in both Kenya and Finland. She earned her B.A. in Photojournalism and is working towards her Master's Degree in International Law and Human Rights from Åbo Akademi University.
