Recycling, the invisible friend of the world - Micaela Del Sol Angulo, Centro de la Imagen, Peru
Sustainability is a global problem that has been treated with greater force since worrying news about the threat to natural resources and pollution on the planet began to spread worldwide.
Not only environmental NGOs have been formed, but also, from civil society, citizens have begun to take initiatives, such as citizen protests, to raise awareness about the destruction of our planet and the disinterest of the authorities and the majority of inhabitants about his catastrophe.
Being the accumulation of garbage one of the main causes of the degradation of the oceans and soils, this is one of the main concerns of organizations and entities that warn about the negative impact of waste management. In this context, invisible and anonymous, there are people who explore the mountains of waste in the city looking for objects to recycle as a means of subsistence and, indirectly, collaborate to save the planet through their arduous recycling work.
This project explores the life of the recyclers we see every day in the city looking through the garbage and go unnoticed. The objective of this photographic series is to focus on these anonymous heroes who, unknowingly, collaborate to mitigate the harmful effects of the environmental catastrophe.
