"Penitentiary Of New Mexico" by Brett Leigh Dicks
In 1980, Cell Block 4, at the Penitentiary of New Mexico was the scene of one of the most violent prison riots in United States correctional history. Over the course of two days 33 inmates were killed and 12 officers were held hostage by prisoners who had escaped from cell blocks in the main unit. Inmates were butchered, dismembered, and decapitated along with being hung in the cells and burned alive. The prison was closed in 1998.
