Home is where family is by Francisco Salgueiro, Portugal, Shortlist
For most people, home is a place on a street where everything remains more or less the same as time goes by. But for circus people, home is a caravan that every week is stationed in a different place. For circus people home has a different meaning. Home is not four walls and a roof. For them it might be a big caravan, a tiny caravan, today with a view to the sea, tomorrow with a view to a horrible building. Above all, for circus people home is seen in a very different. For them Home is not only the caravans, but the circus tent, and the outdoors that surrounds it and mainly the emotional relationships and bonds that are created, and that make home and abstract place.
