Thousands of Central American migrants spent weeks travelling north through Mexico in the hopes of entering the United States. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump vowed to stop the migrants, sending troops to reinforce the border. Frustrated and exhausted following weeks of uncertainty, many migrants became desperate after getting stuck in squalid camps in the Mexican border city of Tijuana, and attempted to cross the border fence illegally, risking almost certain detention.
