Celebrating Latin American talent!

The World Photography Organisation and Sony Latin America launched a brand new initiative for the 2022 Sony World Photography Awards to celebrate talent from Mexico, Central America and South America. The Latin America National Award is open to photographers from Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico and Peru.

From dynamic athletes to street dancers to a starry night sky, the successful photographs highlight the vibrant and varied photographic community in the region. With first, second and third place winners - plus a shortlist of six photographers - this collection draws attention to a creative group of photographers and places them on a global platform. First, second and third place winners win Sony digital imaging, inclusion in the Sony World Photography Awards 2022 book and a local exhibition.

Winners

Bernardo Hernández Sierra, Colombia, 1st Place

Winning an award at the Sony World Photography Awards is an honor and very important as a photographer because it is a great recognition of my work and it will allow me to have greater visibility nationally and globally. I am very happy to have achieved first place in the Latin America National Award, in one of the most important photography contests in the world.

Gonzalo Santile, Argentina, 2nd Place

I have never won at the Sony Awards, so I imagine and dream the happiness I would have if that happened in a year. If that were to happen, I imagine that perseverance and passion for what we do would be the key to achieving it plus the support of my wife and my little children who know of my passion for this type of photography.

Pedro Jarque Krebs, Peru, 3rd Place

This is my fifth accolade through the Sony World Photography Awards and once again I feel deeply motivated to keep working.
