Shortlist; ±100 by Magdalena Stengel
In the last 10 years the number of centenarians worldwide has rapidly increased, and this trend is set to continue. According to recent studies, every third girl born in Germany in 2019 will reach the age of 100. If this holds true, the first 150-year-old person may already live among us. Many people between the age of 90 and 100 still live independently and ±100 aims to tell their stories. The work reflects their perception of the world around them, the happiness and sadness, war and peace. It covers a wide variety of backgrounds and living spaces, and gives us a glimpse into the future.
