In Bolivia, a group of female wrestlers known as the Flying Cholitas are changing society one fight at a time. Dressed in voluminous skirts, bowler hats and embroidered shawls these indigenous women have merged wrestling with activism.
The cholitas have long been one of the country’s most marginalised groups. In the 1960s, however, with limited career opportunities and a basic need to put food on the table, they began advocating civil rights - resulting in a number of successful campaigns. Over the years, as these women have gained more power and freedom, they have become symbols of female empowerment. "
