Xavier Ortega is a Spanish photographer whose biggest passion is taking images of wildlife, especially in Africa. His love for animals and for photography are enough reasons for him to try to obtain original and striking images. He explains how photographers need a lot of patience to get a good image of an animal, as well as perseverance and a large dose of passion.
Ortega was born in 1955 in Barcelona, where he still lives. The photographer sees his discipline as a way of capturing the beauty of the world, it awakes his curiosity and it shows him magical and unique moments.
Ortega has been to Kenya, Tanzania, Namibia, Botswana and Zambia and he returned several times to Kenya, and the Masai Mara. He thinks that the diversity of wild animals that you can photograph in Africa is not comparable to any other place.
He explains: “Photographing African wildlife is very emotional, every image is unrepeatable and you never know what the result will be.”
Ortega is a member of Photoshelter, the leader in portfolio websites, photo sales, marketing and archiving tools for photographers.
