"A gentle mind in a strong body" this is the motto of Lethwei or traditional Burmese boxing (Myanmar). Despite the fierceness of the combat, boxers who practise this sport don't see themselves as enemies but share a fraternal respect of each other. This cultural heritage, which existed at the time of the Kingdom of Bagan (XI century), is a technical legacy of the warriors who defended the country of invasions. One of the unique aspects of this boxing is the ability to use all parts of the body as a weapon (fists, legs, elbows, knees and head), hence its nickname" The art of 9 members". This is the last boxing in South-Asia to be still practised barehanded.
