"Uganda's Vespa Club" by Ariel Tagar
Shot in Kampala, Uganda, this is a story about Ugandan Vespa enthusiasts.
Whilst a range of Indian-made "Boda Boda" motorbikes predominate in Uganda, a few proud men preserve an older tradition and ride Italian Vespas. Against difficult odds, from scarce spare parts to road-side heckles, these men proudly restore and ride their beloved scooters in a country with little mid-century nostalgia. They remember a time when owning a Vespa was a status symbol, recalling happier days in Uganda, which currently ranks as one of the poorest countries in the world.
