Returning to Toronto in 2004, MaryAnn Camilleri developed the ideas that resulted in her first independent projects, Flash Forward 05, an international emerging photographers competition; and Carte Blanche Vol.1: Photography, a survey of the state of contemporary Canadian photography. With these bold projects, The Magenta Foundation was born.
Through The Magenta Foundation, MaryAnn Camilleri develops publications and exhibitions that are circulated in Canada and abroad. By cultivating alliances with like-minded individuals and organizations, MaryAnn has developed a network that enables her to bring international contemporary art to Canadian audiences and Canadian-made contemporary art to international audiences.
The Magenta Foundation has expanded its reach through online ventures including the recent relaunch of its formerly print-only magazine, Magenta Magazine. Prior online projects have focused on web-based television content via Magenta Television, which will feature prominently in Flash Forward Festival programming throughout Liberty Village.
