Photoville 2019 highlights

With more than 90 thought-provoking exhibitions, 30 interactive workshops and talks, 30 FREE programs and special events plus six evening screenings, there's plenty to enjoy at Photoville New York City this September. With an impressive total of 600 photographers contributing to this year's event, this is one of the hippest open festivals in America, with shipping containers repurposed into galleries and some of the most innovative image-makers bringing work to the 10-day event. Visitors travel from far and wide to Brooklyn Bridge Park so they can truly immerse themselves and look, learn and listen to some of the leading and most exciting voices in the industry. Here we've picked out a selection of events we believe will inspire you.

LOOK: THREE EXHIBITIONS NOT TO MISS

Caminantes: The Venezuelan exodus
Ecuadorian photographer Felipe Jácome's most recent series interprets the political and economic crisis in Venezuela. Trekking with those wishing to leave their home country, Jácome documented their 200km plight from Cucuta to Bucaramanga. Jácome then transferred the images of the people he'd met directly on the country's redundant currency by using a silver gelatin process.
