Shortlist; Aislados by Andrés Torres Galeano
Aislados With deaths from anxiety or depression increasing each year, the consequences of social isolation on mental and physical health can be lethal. Last year, Covid-19 forced millions of people to isolate in their homes. According to the Profamilia Solidaridad study carried out in Colombia, those most affected by episodes of anxiety or depression during the pandemic are aged between 18 and 33 years old. Aislados (Isolated) is an allegory of the anxiety, stress, depression, loneliness and boredom that have arisen from quarantine. I conducted this series between Barcelona and Bogotá by using the camera obscura as a vehicle to talk about changes we experience in the perception of time and space. In contrast, its light becomes an analogy of the hope each portrayed person had of returning to normal life.
