Qoyllur Rit'i (Snowflake) by Frederick Olivera Gonzales
These images were captured during a visit to the Andean religious pilgrimage that brings together the Andean nations of the Peruvian region of Cusco. On the slopes of the snow-capped Sinaq’ara mountain, at 4,700 metres (15,400 feet) above sea level, in the district of Ocongate, the people gather to worship the religious image of the Lord of Qoyllur Rit’i and perform rituals to connect with nature and its energy.
