2020 Professional category winners announced

A huge congratulations to the ten Professional category winners in this year's Sony World Photography Awards. Below we present to you some of the most exciting contemporary photographic artists who have gone far in this year’s Professional competition.

Speaking about this year's online announcement, Founder and CEO of the World Photography Organisation Scott Gray says: “The Sony World Photography Awards was established to help get photographers the recognition they deserve, with the exhibition providing an important platform to share their work with new audiences. Due to current restrictions with the global pandemic we were unable to hold this year’s exhibition however we are still dedicated to promoting winning images and projects and ensure the Awards provide awareness and appreciation for the photographers’ work.”

Focused on awarding outstanding bodies of work, the Professional competition required artists to submit a series of five to ten photographs across ten categories: Architecture, Creative, Discovery, Documentary, Landscape, Natural World & Wildlife, Portraiture, Still Life, Sport, and Environment – the latter new for 2020.

Chosen by an esteemed panel through a rigorous judging process, these photographers are the world’s most dedicated chroniclers, interpreters and artists showcasing a myriad of genres, styles and points of view. We are grateful to this year’s judges, each a leading voice in the photography industry, for their time, expertise and insight. The individuals making up this year's judging panel are international in scope and bring an exciting range of knowledge from wide and varied backgrounds in the medium. All work is judged anonymously.

Alongside international exposure and support from the World Photography Organisation, each winner is awarded a range of Sony digital equipment.
