"The Jardines del Humaya cemetery in Culiacan, Mexico, was established in 1969 using funds from the richest families of the city. Over time, Culiacan became a hotspot for drug dealing and was the birthplace of the Cartel de Sinaloa - nowadays considered the most powerful drug trafficking organisation in the world.

Members of the cartel took over the cemetery, building luxurious tombs and altering the appearance of the place dramatically. Much like the tombs built for the Egyptian pharaohs, these mansion-like structures contain personal items belonging to the deceased. For added luxury, many of them also include modern amenities such as air conditioning, solar panels, satellite TV and Wi-Fi. Some of these tombs are estimated to be worth millions of dollars."
