2nd Place, " Els Enfarinat" by Antonio Gibotta
Each December 28th, in Ibi, in the province of Alicante, Spain the festival of Els Enfarinat, or ‘The floured's war’ takes place. During the festival participants form two groups; the Els Enfarinats (the floured) who simulate a coup d'etat, and a group which seeks to end the rebellion. The teams battle with flour, water, eggs and coloured smoke bombs, making for beautiful photographs. The festival has been celebrated for around 200 years and is linked to celebrations commemorating the Day of the Innocents.
