Developing your practice: Seven online exhibition to keep you engaged this week

While the doors of galleries and institutions around the world might be temporarily closed, many have embraced the possibilities of the digital, inviting us to virtually visit their current shows. We've selected seven online exhibitions to inspire you. 

BLACK BOX PROJECTS
To 25 May, 2020
Error, Object Structure 
Comprising more than a decade of photographic artist Adam Jeppesen’s work – from the epic photographic journey of the Flatlands Camp Project, 2009 to the new, monumental installation The Great Filter at BRANDTS - Museum of Art and Visual Culture, 2019. Expect cyanotypes printed on linen alongside composite black & white landscapes. His work has a delicate elegance that can still be enjoyed online.

CRAWFORD ART GALLERY

In Transit 
In Transit features artists George Awde, Daniel Castro Garcia, Gohar Dashti, Tanya Habjouqa and Stefanie Zofia Schulz in an exhibition of photography and filmmaking that focuses on the tentative uncertain experience of living between different cultures. Curated by Peggy Sue Amison and in partnership with Stadtgalerie Saarbrücken, German.

KOLGA TBILISI PHOTO 2020
Closing soon
While the festival had live programme updates and its awards ceremony to 10 May, viewers can still enjoy all the interactive, virtual exhibitions. The impressive website has fun graphics that highlight iconic buildings in the town of Tbilis.

MAST FOUNDATION 
To September 2020 
UNIFORM: INTO THE WORK / OUT OF THE WORK 
This extensive digital initiative includes more than 600 images exploring workwear by photographers worldwide. Enjoy a guided tour with curator Urs Stahel alongside additional presentations. Selected material from the Foundation’s digital archive will also be published weekly, including a recent video the great Dayanita Singh explaining her Museum of Machines.

NEWLANDS HOUSE GALLERY

Helmut Newton 100
Virtually wander through this major retrospective 12 rooms to explore Helmut Newton’s many masterpieces and rare prints, such as Big Nude III (Henrietta variant), 1980 and Elsa Peretti, Bunny, New York, 1975. A two hour tour around the exhibition is now available through Newlands House Gallery’s IGTV channel.

SCOTIABANK CONTACT PHOTOGRAPHY FESTIVAL 
Throughout May
While the exhibition might have been cancelled, that hasn’t put off CONTACT Gallery to migrate to online, with a comprehensive digital programme throughout May. Enjoy profiles video screenings, photobooks readings and artist profiles, which has been extended beyond the original festival format. There’s a whole range of content for you to be inspired by.
