3rd Place, "Check Point 300; (in)human borders" by Eduardo Castaldo
Every day before sunset, thousands of Palestinian workers spend 2 to 4 hrs crammed together waiting to cross the so-called ‘Checkpoint 300’ that divides Bethlehem and Jerusalem, in order to go to jobs in Jerusalem and surrounding areas. The images presented are composed of more than 30 different pictures realised at Checkpoint 300, and the purpose of the series is to represent the inhuman conditions to which these people are subjected daily in order to exercise their right to work. Whilst these images are the result of a creative composition, hence not real, what is real is the sense of oppression that they aim to represent.
