With the spread of wireless technology, people are increasingly exposed to high-frequency electromagnetic fields. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 3% of the world's population claim to suffer from Electrosensitivity (ES), an illness characterised by hypersensitivity to electromagnetic radiation but which is not officially recognised by the medical community.

ES encompasses a wide range of symptoms involving the nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, skeletal and neurological systems. In Italy, the number of sufferers is estimated at around 4% of the population. Although ES is not recognised by the WHO, increasing numbers suffer from this disease and are forced to radically change their lives, partially or completely isolating themselves from society. Others develop symptoms of depression and lethargy. Some call these people sentinels, considering that they are experiencing a phenomenon that will become more widespread in the future.
