This summer, the Royal Academy of Arts will stage an exhibition dedicated to the birth of modern photography, featuring the work of Brassaï, Robert Capa, André Kertész, László Moholy- Nagy and Martin Munkácsi. Each left their homeland Hungary to make their names in Europe and the USA, profoundly influencing the course of modern photography.

This is the first major exhibition of portraits by renowned photographer John Hedgecoe from the Sainsbury Centre’s collection of more than 400 works by the artist, acquired earlier this year. John Hedgecoe was the portrait photographer who took the image of the Queen used on postage stamps.

Drawn from the collections of Tosca Photography Fund, the photographs are produced using techniques varying from the simplest pinhole camera to cutting-edge digital image manipulation, demonstrating the breadth and possibilities of the medium.

The new α NEX-C3 by Sony is the world’s smallest, lightest interchangeable lens digital camera in its class. Offered in a choice of stylish colours, the NEX-C3 features an attractive new body design that combines a satisfyingly solid metal top casing with an easy-to-use streamlined grip shape. Reducing the size of main circuitry shrinks camera body weight to just 225g – that’s almost 6% less than the NEX-3.
