To celebrate the launch of The Amazing Spider-Man, Sony have teamed up with photographer and compositing expert Dave Hill to create an interactive mural and want you to participate.
Dave and his team took to the streets of New York to start capturing an image inspired by the old style Spider-Man film posters. The backdrop was made up from photographs of different style buildings from all over the city and interspersed with classic sights such as fire escape stairways and alleys to give the dark and gritty feel of Spider-Man’s crime ridden streets.
To give the mural a story, Dave then spent days in a studio shooting individual characters with incredible attention to detail, whilst mentoring SWPA Student Focus Recruit, Spencer Bergan. During the studio shoot, Sony filmed the tutorial and produced a short video giving hints and tips on how to composite a selection of photographs together to create one amazing image.
However the mural is missing some important characters! Sony wants you to put yourself in the picture and make your own Spider-Man adventure with friends. Like the expert you can plan your adventure, choose the spots you’re going to use, then go out and have fun capturing them. Once you have got your poses right, the images need to be carefully photo composited into the mural using the in-app photo editing tool.

Anyone can participate, no matter where you are in the world. Visit the SCS Facebook page and discover how easy it is to start building your mural. You can either upload your image from Facebook or your desktop, then get your friends to join your mural to complete it.
Additionally, Sony Europe, who have created the app, are giving select countries the chance to win an NEX-5N camera and VAIO E Series 17 with Vegas Pro 11 software to carry on photo-compositing at home, so check app terms and conditions to see if you are eligible.
