Facebook Monthly Photo Competition - April 2012: April 2012 - Black & White

At the time of this visit to New York I was unsure of the legality of shooting in the subway so I set up my Canon with what I hoped would be the correct settings, slung it on my shoulder like a bag and walked about the subway with my finger occasionally hitting the shutter. I didn't review the shots until much later.
I increased the contrast in this and several other shots as I think it adds drama, punch and gives a slightly surreal feel to what is in essence quite a mundane everyday scene.
