Opposite the central market something stood out more than the yellow walls of the building constructed in 1809. Benedict talked to some people and laughed loudly as a woman showed him a camera. When I saw his eyes hidden beneath the hat, I could not help asking for a portrait. Benedict was very nice and told me he lived there for over seventy years. The reason for the laughter was a photo in which he held his granddaughter, who inherited the honey-colored eyes of his grandfather.
